North
Georgia recording artist Danny Ray Cole was recently invited by
KICKS 101.5 FM to be a part of country music week at Six Flags
over Georgia.
Cole, who lives on Lake Lanier, and his flaming Georgia fiddle
were the opening act for Nashville recording artist Blake
Shelton. Shelton has the current number one hit on country
radio, "Austin."
Cole performed songs from his new album, "Places You
Go", an instrumental recording that showcases his diverse
talents.
"The
fiddle is my forte," said Cole who actually plays several
instruments: fiddle/violin, harmonica, mandolin,
mandocaster, rhythm guitar, slide guitar and banjo. He is his own
accompaniment both live and in his recordings.
"Danny Ray Cole is an amazing talent on fiddle," said
KICKS 101.5 officials. The invitation to Cole was spurred by
his abilities and by the station's desire to support local
musicians.
"It was great bringing my music to Six Flags," said Cole.
"People are always amazed at the many sounds that I can make
with my fiddle without any special devices. I especially enjoyed
that so many young people were drawn to the stage while I was
playing... I had 'em screaming."
Cole's
furiously fast fiddling songs, indeed, left crowds screaming for
more. From bluegrass and Cajun to Celtic, Cole cranked out
one tune after another for enthusiastic fans, all-the-while
wearing in line states. And while his bow cooled down from
what is easily considered some serious sawing, Cole told humorous
stories about how each song came to be.
Cole's
grandfather fostered his love of music and encouraged him to play
the fiddle. "Places You Go" is Cole's third album
and he is constantly working on new material.
He has many musical credits to his name, has won numerous contests
and even toured with the late great Bill Monroe.
Cole
feels however, that home is where the heart is and since he
draws so much inspiration for his music from the beautiful north
Georgia area, he has decided to remain a local/regional
entertainer.
